Restorative Leadership
God restores my soul. Psalm 23:3a
An event for Pastors, Christian Educators, Youth Workers,
and Christian Education Volunteers.
Come join us for learning, renewal and fun.
The Rev. Dr. William Presnell, Facilitator
LEARNING Story—that’s something every Christian Educator, Pastor and Youth Worker knows about! Combining an introduction to Bowen theory with a narrative (story) process, Dr. William Presnell will lead us on an engaging and participatory exploration of church family relationships, and how a congregation’s story influences congregational life and health. We will envision how we may offer restorative leadership in this period of transition for the church. Recommended books to read before the retreat: Ronald Richardson 1996. Creating a Healthier Church. Minneapolis: Fortress Press. One of the best, most readable applications of Bowen theory to congregational relationship process. Peter Steinke 2006. Congregational Leadership for Anxious Times: Being Calm and Courageous No Matter What. The Alban Institute. Books available from Amazon.com OUR FACILITATOR A resident of Madison, NJ, Dr. Presnell is a licensed Marital and Family Therapist, Trainer, Pastoral Counselor, and seminary teacher. He serves as Consultant to churches, educational institutions, businesses/ community groups, and is an Adjunct Professor in the D.Min. program at The Theological School at Drew University. Bill and his wife, Nancy, are active members of Stanley Congregational UCC in Chatham, NJ. REST & RENEWAL The Mensch Mill Conference and Retreat Center is a lovely location to get away. We will stay in comfortable rooms (doubles) with attached baths (please bring your own toiletries). Linens provided. For directions and more information about Mensch Mill go to: www.menschmill.org or call them at 610-845-7013. FUN There is never lack of conversation or laughter at our retreat! Meet up with old friends and make new ones. Also— We’ll have time to share some of our favorite resources and curriculum, program ideas and activities. Be sure to bring yours along!
