To: All Pastors of the Chesapeake Association
From: Steve Lauer, President of the Association Council
Subject: Pulpit Exchange
Several of our members and Pastors have expressed the desire
to have a pulpit exchange in the spring. So before we go any further
with the planning and selection of a date we would like to gauge the
general interest on conducting such an endeavor.
Please reply to this announcement at slauer60@verizon.net
with whether you would or would not like to participate.
Thank you,
Steve
The UCC launched a fantastic “facebook”esque social networking site on Mar 31. It will provide us UCCers with a great opportunity to connect with others. So in order to get things started, Jeff has created a group on the site that he would love to encourage Baltimore City UCCers to sign up and chat with him and others. The group is Baltimore City UCC churches. Jeff is hopeful that this will be a great place for us to have an ongoing conversation about how we support one another as people doing Urban ministry in Baltimore City. We can share event information, Evangelism successes (and failures) and just plain strategize together about how the UCC can be involved in the healing of our city. The 46th Annual Meeting of the Conference is on its way!!. Our theme this year is “Who Are You Christians, Anyway? Seeking Our Way Together in the Central Atlantic Conference”
Join us June 11-13, 2010 at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware as we welcome Diana Butler Bass, author of Christianity for the Rest of Us and A People’s History of Christianity: the Other Side of the Story, as our keynote speaker. The Annual Meeting Planning Committee is planning workshops around the themes of Hospitality, Discernment, Contemplation/Reflection, Testimony, Diversity, Justice/Healing, Worship and Beauty. Members of the Potomac Association are hard at work preparing exciting worship experiences around our theme- and answering the question – Who Are you Christians, Anyway?
Attached is information regarding registration. Currently we only have registration by snail mail. Our online registration won’t be available for about 2 weeks, so if you want your preference of hotels or housing you need to get your registration in the “old fashioned way” The deadline to avoid a late fee is May 1. After that date there is a $50 late fee.
Please post this in your church bulletins, on your web pages and your bulletin boards. The Annual Meeting is open to all. Join us for the entire weekend or just one day.
I look forward to seeing you all. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

This winter marks the ninth season of the St. John's Bowling League at AMF, Catonsville.
Our new league will kick off on February 2nd at 6:30 PM. and run through May 4th.
We would like to invite new bowlers to join us in this season of fun and fellowship.
To review; we bowl duckpins each Tuesday night for fourteen weeks.
The cost per person per week is ten dollars which includes shoe rental and three games.
Everyone is welcome, age 12 and up. At the end of the season we will award trophies, and accept the prize money from the lanes.
This money will be used by the church to help fund our youth mission trip.
A sign up sheet is located on the bulletin board in the hallway.
Any questions, call Steve Lauer at 465-8321.
Note: Please check the display case in the hallway for pictures of previous league winners.
